Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) for Parents

Parents have the opportunity to work on each section of the Hexiflex model each week. The course is designed with the parent in mind. Week 1 will be an introduction. Week 2 goes through what acceptance is and gives an opportunity for parents to work through accepting things that may not be in their control. Week 3 works on getting "unstuck". Week 4 is designed to work on present-moment awareness. Week 5 helps with observing your own behaviors within the context of the environment. In week 6, you will be working on finding your values. Week 7, you are guided through taking action and committing to what is needed. Week 8 is a recap and utilizing it on a daily basis.

ACT for Families

ACT for Families is a more in-depth look into the Hexiflex model. It is designed to support the family structure while also supporting the individual. All families have different dynamics and different values per individual. The goal is to find those values, work as a family to figure out the committed actions that get each individual closer to their value, and accept the things that are not within the individual's control. This course takes longer than the parent course and the timeframe is based on the family's needs. In the discovery call, timelines will be discussed.

ACT for Adolescents

Sometimes, teens do not like speaking about their challenges in front of their parents. This course is designed to help support the teen, either one-on-one with Becky, or in a small group of others around their age. The course goes through the Hexiflex model with activities that support the teen in gaining more understanding of the concepts discussed. The course can be taken virtually, or in person. It is recommended to complete the course in person. After the session, Becky will have a brief discussion with the teen and their caregiver, summing up what was discussed and how the teen may be supported in the home and community.

Social Groups

Social groups are designed to teach appropriate interactions with all children and adolescents with any ability. Becky works on placing individuals with peers around their age who need to work on similar skills for social interactions. The courses can be between siblings or between peers, depending on what is needed. Classes are small groups and each class has an activity the individual will work on to complete. Social groups are two hours long, once per week.
